Why does everything have to be junk food? I am not a fan of this ‘holiday’ as I don’t like beer and junk food rarely agrees with me. As well, I am a die-hard hockey fan and I do not appreciate the true value of a touch down or a quarter back like Peyton Manning, much to my husband’s chagrin. What I love about the Super Bowl are the commercials and the half time show. This year Madonna will be performing. For me, she is a childhood icon, her and Michael. Sadly Michael is no longer with us, so this will be like nirvana for me. As mentioned, I also like the commercials. Everyone has favorites. The hardest part for me is to get everyone to be quiet during the commercials. They always look at me as if I am crazy. I can’t help it. I want to see the creative side and I want to see what 3.5- 4 million dollars buys today, you know besides a house, an education, a life etc…

Anyway, I hope you have fun on game day, whether it is the food, the people, the half time show or even the commercials that bring you joy. It’s an exciting day and remember to play it safe (food allergy wise.)

Here are some safe snack ideas for those suffering with food allergies.

Homemade Granola- my own consists of sunflower seeds, soy free chocolate, raisins, cranberries, coconut and baked oatmeal

Cupcakes– egg free or nut free

Apple wedges with Sunbutter

Celery sticks with Sunbutter

Veggie plates

Cheese or cold cut plates

All snacks can be fun and safe. Enjoy the game! I have included a sneak peak to one of the commercials airing tomorrow.
